Our next meeting will not be a meeting but our summer event "Movie Night in the Park" August 30, 8:00 cartoons start, 8:45 for movie. Please bring your family, friends and neighbors to this family fun night. We need to start working together to help each other. After speaking with one of our member Joe Turdik about what a hard ship purchasing oil will be for our residents, this winter. The civic would like to start using our group buying power for purchasing oil as a group. I know that this fall and winter will be tough and expensive for all. If we start now, we can lock in a price that can not go up in the winter months. We have power in a large buying group. Looking at what gas prices are and what a barrel of oil costs now, I’m hearing by July that gas might be as high as $150 a barrel. This is the time for us to come together as residents against the oil companies. If we start mobilizing now we can have this price locked in before fall or winter. We do not know how high this financial burden will go, so let us all try to work together to take control of our finances. Please email me at debfel@optonline.net or seldencivic@optonline.net ; help us pass on the word to your friends, neighbors and family members to join our Selden Civic Community Oil Group. Don’t be left out. Pass the word we need to start now so we will be set by winter.
We have been working with many of our merchants and commercial properties on development projects. We have new addition to our commercial community; a new restaurant opening in Independence Plaza called Wingman. Café Amici is expanding and we have a new craft and notion store where the old CVS was located. We look forward to our new commercial projects and wish them the best of luck.
Our meeting in June is to celebrate our volunteers and community. We also want to celebrate our year of civic accomplishments. Attending will also be representative from the owners of Independence Plaza and the Omni-point/T-Mobile project . Thank you to all of our community for your help and support this year.
Be part of the change that you want to create. Be a volunteer.
Every January starts our new membership drive please join today. Although we take membership all year!!!Go to our website and print out and mail in your membership. We need your support!
Sincerely,
